HOOT!

Hoot

Hoot is about a boy (Roy) how has made unlikely friends in a new town called coconut cove. He had moved because his dad had been offered a new job. At his new school he had to catch the bus and on that bus ride a bully Dana had shoved his face against the bus window and he saw a boy a mysterious boy, he had white blond hair and he was running incredibly fast! One day before school he sees the running boy and tries to follow him but Dana pins him down and since he wouldn't let go Roy punched him in the face and then he ran after him. After many Gardens, ferocious dogs and angry people he had followed him to a golf course and then into the forest but Roy had lost the running boy. After he had seen his face and discussed what he had been doing in the woods and stuff and then the Running boy took him to the construction site of Mother Paula's and he took him to the site because the running boy had been taking care of burrowing owls which is an endangered species and through the book it is there mission to save the lives of many owls. Later on in the story the running boy trust Roy that he tells him his nickname which is Mullet fingers because he can catch a baby mullet with his bare hands!

My favourite character is...
My favourite character would have to be mullet fingers because he is adventurous and he isn't afraid of anything and he sticks up for wildlife.

My least favourite character is...
My least favourite character would have to be Dana Matherson because he is stuck up and he is a nasty person!

The message of the book is...
The message from the book is sticking up for yourself and other people/wildlife, being aware of bulling and survival.

My rating for the book...
My rating is 8.5/10 because some parts just went on for a while but overall it was a good book!

What part of the movie am I looking forward to...
I'm looking forward to when Mullet fingers meets up with Roy and the protest and what all of the characters look like!

Adia

Aida
This week on Tuesday our school Mokoia went to the Production musical by the boys and girls high called Aida.

Most of the music was written by Elton John. The thing that was the most boring about it was that it went on forever 4 hours it felt like!

Its about a love triangle with a princess Aida is from Nubia and and she got snatched away from her village by the a Capitan sailor  Rademes and she and a few more girls were taken from there village for slavery, but they both fell in love. His father had arranged a marriage with the princess of Egypt Amneris.

Overall it was an amazing show with amazing singers and props I really enjoyed it!
In class we rated it overall a 4/5

30 day book challenge

P3 is doing a 30 day book challenge. First of all we had to go into the middle of the room where all of these books were and they only had descriptions about the book so one would have fun, adventure, kids and other things that are related to the book.
I swapped a few books because I didn't like my first choice and now I have got the book Under the never sky which is good because in class right now I'm doing my novel study on it!
I really like the book so far I'm almost finished the first chapter and it is really good! I like the system of how we do this, because you don't know what it is and you can't judge the book by the cover!
I think we should carry this on in our class.

Argumentative writing

Task : Many studies have concluded that the average American watches approximately 6 hours of television a day. Some people may not even realize how much TV they are accurately watching. Is 6 hours to much?

Many of Americas population has been brought up by the TV and when they watch they don't realise how much they are going to get bigger and           more obese over the years! The average weight of the American woman is 160 pounds (72.5 kg) and the average man weighs 196 pounds (88.9 kg) and

most of that weight comes from watching TV. This is a quarter of how much New Zealanders weigh and this information was taken in 2013. The most that Americans will pay $2,000 a year for just TV! This is crazy and it is about $450 for sky and The including the installation satellite costs $635.

America is one of the worst places for obesity it is ranked as number 1 in the world and most of this is contributed by the unhealthy fast food restaurants, lack of exercise and the amount of TV they watch. This leads to diabetes and heart attacks.

This is an article about the worlds most obese man.
The 'world's fattest man' has died at the age of 48 in Mexico after being bedridden for more than a decade.

Authorities in the state of Nuevo Leon confirmed Manuel Uribe, who was certified by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's heaviest man in 2006, died in hospital on Monday.
Uribe, who spent a decade in bed unable to move or walk, eventually slimmed down from his then-record peak weight of 1,230 pounds (560 kilograms) to about 867 pounds (394 kilograms).
The cause of his death is yet to be confirmed. But sources close to the matter told the Associated Press he was admitted to hospital suffering from "abnormal heartbeat" on 2 May. In addition to his cardiovascular condition, Uribe also believed to suffered from liver problems.
Most of his days were spent watching TV and eating.

I think that all the people in America are watching way to much TV they should be outside and exercising and living life not in front of a TV all there life!

Devon Exchange
Last week some Mokoia students drove down to New Plymouth and played against them for the right of the trophy! The sports that we played was soccer, netball, basketball, rugby and hockey. We had the long trip down and on the way we stopped at the big apple restaurant and then we stopped at this little park 2 hours out of New Plymouth the bus ride was quite boring but most people slept so it was quiet. After 5 hours of driving we had made it to meet our billets I was billeting with Estelle and we meet up with our billet Savithi she and her family was really nice! We settled down and we went to the museum. It was really neat there was an paper plane exhibition and you made paper planes and it was really fun.

Day 2: The games started and it was all on the first game was the year 7 and 8 netball team and we won that 18-21,The our game the year 8 team sadly we lost by three points 20-23, then the girls soccer lost again and the score was 2-4,then for the hockey we won with an amazing score 0-7, then rugby we lost 14-64 and then it was all down to the soccer boys and we lost 2-3 but we had plenty of fun.

Day 3: Sadly we had to leave our billets and say goodbye to New Plymouth and take the long bus ride back over all it was fun and we had new experience I wish it wasn't over!
